Life updates, writing, and stuff
I realized I haven't written anything here in a month (outside of that personal post I deleted), so it's time I corrected that.
I wrapped up a lot of exhausting work and now I'm in the middle of a much-deserved vacation, if I can say so. I need to stress the exhausting part, because when you're a freelancer, it's very, very easy to fall on the trap of getting too much work to do and forget to plan a couple days off. I always do it, and hopefully I'll learn to avoid that one day. The work itself is also exhausting, so it's not just a matter of quantity either… I won't get into it now, though.
Last time I talked about writing, and it's been going steady… ish. I've started a third draft, and now I think I'm actually satisfied with the direction it's taking, although I'm sure it will need heavy doses of editing whenever I finish, let's say, part 1. Not putting pressure on myself to write means I'm not that consistent, but on the other hand I always have something in my mind, I'm always planning or thinking about the story, I bought a little notebook to write down ideas, and all that does wonders for my mental health, surprisingly. Who would've guessed that having a creative outlet in my life not only works to fill up a gap I didn't know I had within myself, but it's also been an enriching experience by itself? Crazy stuff.
That said, whenever I do sit down to write, it tends to flow well. I can usually get 1000 words or so in one session, and it's always a pleasant experience. Right now I believe I'm at 13,000 words, and this "part 1" will likely end with 15k. After that, I dunno. I want to do a re-reading and editing and I'm slightly afraid that may burn me out, but I feel like I gotta do it to know if everything's coming together at least, since my writing process is so haphazard. Besides, I've got other things on my mind to write about at some point, anyway.
Since it's gone so far I'm thinking I should probably publish this project somewhere, when I have "part 1" done, at the very least, but on the other hand I feel like I need to be really satisfied with it to put it out there. Not sure yet. Someone might enjoy reading it, and I've always heard it's good to put your projects out there for that reason. I'll leave that for 2025, I guess.
For other things, I took a trip to São Paulo last week, like I do a lot of the time, 3 hours inside of a bus, but I really don't want to talk about that in detail this time. Thai food is fantastic, is all I'm saying about that. And I found a super random figurine of Sara Kodama from Metal Overman King Gainer (from the "Sunrise Robot Anime Heroines" line), which you never expect to see in the wild. I might be the only person in this country to have ever bought two King Gainer things.
I was going to finish this by doing a "things I watched/read/played" section (I refuse to say "consuming media"), but once again I've already written more than expected, so I'll leave that for later. Might do a big year roundup, actually.
