WAIT WAIT WAIT IT'S STILL AUGUST WHERE I LIVE

I did forget to write this month's post! Not much to say, really, but I'd like to keep the blog's schedule more or less consistent.

August has been a (half) really busy month. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like it's the month that feels the longest all year, and it was no exception this time. I went from having way too much free time to so much work to do crammed in just one week, it was insane. I had to do a rush job that ended up requiring me to subtitle 45 minutes of video in one day; and it was surprisingly not tiring, since I had spent like a month with barely any work, but for the love of God, never do that, I swear I'll try to not do it again. The silver lining is that it really proved that I'm quick at subtitling (an essential quality in this line of work), and seeing that I've made progress after these few years in translation does make me happy. I was told in the beginning that subtitling 5 minutes of video in 1 hour of work was the ideal pace, and I'm finally there, pretty consistently, too! I don't know if this deserves any celebration after going through those insane three days of work though.

Well, whatever, the reason I had to rush was that I had a trip scheduled to meet a friend visiting the state for the first time, and no way I was gonna miss that — refusing work wasn't an option, and postponing the deadline didn't seem to be either. Thankfully all went well, I didn't miss the trip, and it was fun, so almost no regrets this time… Almost. In retrospect I'm a bit stressed out thinking about that whole situation, but eh I think it's fine for now. I won't dwell on that here anyway.

Back to the trip, I finally went to visit the Cardcaptor Sakura-themed café in São Paulo, which is a very cute environment with Cardcaptor Sakura-themed food that's better than you'd expect out of one of these; I think they put a bit more care into the menu since it's a permanent venue that they (I assume) own, rather than a temporary space to be dissasembled after a couple weeks. Now, the food is a bit expensive, but I mean that's what I was expecting from a theme café (is that how you call it?), and the environment is fun and cute enough, so it's worth ONE visit I'd say, if you're a CCS fan and you're in the city with a group of friends. At the end of the day, CCS was deeply impactful to me (more on this another day), so my experience was enjoyable.

I've been up to more, but it's almost midnight so I'm stopping here today. I could talk about Earthbound and Hunter X Hunter, which I've been playing and reading, but I'll leave that for another day. I will say they're pretty great, though, it's been a ton of fun.

Thank God I remembered I needed to write a post literally at the last hour. Whew. Good night.
